Through SCUBA diving, the Diveheart Foundation supports and facilitates programs that teach children and adults with disabilities to fly. Thanks to the wonder of the water column, the oceans and lakes of the world become the forgiving weightless environment of outer space, giving perfect buoyancy to a child or adult who would otherwise struggle on land.

This is an incredible organization and it is the "CAN DO" spirit that Diveheart hopes to instill in all its participants by giving them the confidence and independence that allows them to face their own life challenges and overcome barriers that before might have seemed insurmountable.

The Diveheart Foundation was founded in Early 2001 and is a non-profit tax exempt 501 (C) (3) national organization chartered in the state of Illinois. Their purpose is to "provide and support educational SCUBA diving and snorkeling experience programs that are open to any child, adult or veteran with a disability with the hope of providing both physical and psychological therapeutic value to that person"
So what can you do? The possibilities are endless!!!
One thing you can do is take this opportunity to get involved in a rare and great opportunity to train with the best in disabled dive buddy certification. Jim Elliott founder and instructor for
Diveheart and Diving Military Wounded will be having certification classes in Northern California - Napa Valley in March!
March 18th 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm | Classroom |
March 19th 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm | Pool |
March 20th 10:30am – 6:30pm | Pool and Intro to Scubaand Media Event |
March 21st | Lake Berryessa for Open Water Buddy Cert. |
Level: Open Water, Advanced, and Rescue | $200.00 |
Level: Divemaster, and Instructor | $300.00 |

Becoming certified allows us to build our divebuddy list! The plan is to provide Diveheart training to our Northern California disabled and military wounded veterans allowing them to feel the freedom and to have a great adventure in diving. This is not a full time volunteer obligation but rather an opportunity to help where and when you can with intro to scuba and scuba certifications in Cozumel once maybe twice a year.
Another thing you can do is help Diveheart through donations. This is the RIGHT cause! Here are several needs this organization has:
- Divebuddies of all levels!
- Cash
- Webbed gloves, wrist weights, audio masks.
- Gently used dive gear
- Administrators, Accountants, Legal Help
